Bearcats Win Battle of Ranked Foes
TOPEKA, Kan.-The Northwest Missouri State men's tennis squad picked up a big conference win Thursday night as the 21st-ranked Bearcats went on the road and defeated No. 27 Washburn 5-4.
The Bearcats would win 4-of-6 in singles competition, as Felipe Gennari would pick up the match-winning victory for Northwest. Calvin Patterson, Ryan Westerhof and Giovanni Auricchio also picked up singles victories. After dropping the first two doubles matches, the doubles tandem of Gennari and Patterson would pick up a victory for the Bearcats winning their match 8-2 over Emmanuel Laurent and Yann Kasay.
Northwest improves to 12-4 overall and picked up its first MIAA win of the season to even its conference mark at 1-1. The Bearcats will stay in the state of Kansas for their next match as Northwest will play at Emporia State on Saturday afternoon beginning at 1 p.m.
