Bearcats Rebound Against Dallas Baptist
DALLAS, Texas-The 26th-ranked Northwest Missouri State men's tennis team avoided back-to-back losses by earning an 8-1 road victory against Dallas Baptist Monday. The win moves the Bearcats to 8-2.
Northwest swept doubles play for the sixth time in 10 matches to take control early, then won five singles matches in straight sets, outscoring opponents 52 games to 21 in the process.
Northwest's Malcolm Harrison improved to 9-0 in singles play after scoring a 6-3, 6-3 win against Josh King at the one position while teammate Calvin Patterson improved to 8-1 in singles play during the spring with a 6-1, 6-2 win against Nick French at number three.
Raphael Oliveira snuck into the lineup at the six position and earned his first collegiate singles win by besting Clint Baird 7-5, 6-0. Oliveira and Harrison ended a two-game skid in doubles play by beating Bronson Vaughan and Richard Abel 8-4 at number one doubles, moving the duo to 8-2.
Monday's match against Dallas Baptist is the second of five road matches in five days. The Bearcats continue play Tuesday with a dual with Midwestern State.
