Drury Deals Northwest First Loss

Box Score

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.-No. 21 Drury couldn't slow down Malcolm Harrison but didn't have to in handing No. 26 Northwest Missouri State its first loss of the season, 6-2, Sunday at Cooper Tennis Complex. Northwest had won its first five matches of the season.

Harrison posted a convincing 6-1, 6-1, win against Drury's Roman Gonda at number one singles to improve to 6-0. Earlier, he teamed with Raphael Oliveira to defeat Gonda and Lukas Zielen 8-6 at number one doubles. Harrison and Oliveria are also 6-0 this season.

Drury countered with 8-5 and 8-6 wins at number two and three doubles, respectively. The Panthers then rattled off four more wins in singles play, three of which were in straight sets. The match at number six singles went unfinished.

Northwest will look to rebound at home Wednesday against Missouri-Kansas City. Match time is 3 p.m.
