Men's Tennis Moves to 3-0
MARYVILLE, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State swept the three doubles matches and earned four straight-set victories in singles play to beat 44th-ranked Ferris State Wednesday on the Frank Grube and High Rise Courts. It was the home opener for the 26th-ranked Bearcats, who moved to 3-0.
Northwest's Vijit Sehgal and Ryan Westerhof rallied from a 5-2 deficit to defeat Jake Swan and Justin Hermes 9-7 at number two doubles. Malcolm Harrison and Raphael Oliveira won 8-3 at number one doubles and Felipe Gennari and Daniel Quesada teamed to pick up an 8-4 win at number three. The Bearcats are 9-0 in doubles play through three duals.
Northwest's Harrison and Calvin Peterson improved to 3-0 in singles play during the spring while defeating Kyle Revall and Hermes, respectively. Gennari and Sehgal also won singles matches. Ferris State (3-2) picked up victories at number five and number six singles.
The Bearcats continue play Thursday against Cameron in Rockhurst, Mo. Northwest will host Missouri-St. Louis Friday (10 a.m.) and Drury Saturday (11 a.m.).
