Tennis Adds Pair of Matches Ahead of Regional Tournament

MARYVILLE, Mo. - Head Coach Mark Rosewell has added a pair of matches for the Northwest Missouri State men's and women's tennis teams ahead of their appearances in the NCAA regional tournament next weekend.

The men will play an exhibition match at Johnson County Community College tomorrow (May 1) at 1 p.m. The Cavaliers are ranked No. 5 in the latest ITA junior college national poll.

The women will host No. 26 Drury Saturday at 1 p.m. in a meeting of two conference champions. The Bearcats won their 11th MIAA title and the Panthers were champions of the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament last weekend. It will also be the first return trip to Maryville for Drury Head Coach Jarrod Smith, who was a six-time MIAA individual champion for the Bearcats from 2000-02 and earned first-team All-MIAA honors in 2003. He was a graduate assistant for Northwest in 2004 and 2005.

Both men's and women's teams will begin first round action of the NCAA South Central Regional Tournament May 7.
