25th-Ranked Bearcats Beat William Jewell
MARYVILLE, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State remained undefeated at home this season following the team's 9-0 win against William Jewell Tuesday at Frank Grube Courts. It's the sixth win in seven matches for the 25th-ranked Bearcats (11-4).
Felipe Gennari, who earned his first national ranking this week at No. 49, improved to 14-4 in singles play this season following a 6-0, 6-1 victory against William Jewell's Kyle Taylor. Northwest lost just 19 games in sweeping the six singles matches.
Daniel Usieto and Vijit Sehgal, who moved to No. 3 in the region's doubles rankings, beat Cody Pflugradt and Kyle Taylor 8-2 Tuesday. Usieto also beat Pflugradt in singles play, 6-1, 6-2.
Gennari and Tony Adeyemi teamed to score an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles and Calvin Patterson and Giovanni Auricchio earned an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles. It's the fourth time Northwest has swept all nine matches this season.
