Rosewell Reaches 800 Wins as Tennis Coach
MARYVILLE, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State head tennis coach Mark Rosewell reached the 800-win plateau Friday as the Bearcats' men's and women's tennis teams combined to win three matches against conference teams. Rosewell (801-376) is in his 25th season at Northwest and 27th as a collegiate head coach.
The 800th win came following the Northwest men's 8-1 victory against Emporia State. It's the fifth straight win for the 28th-ranked Bearcats (10-3) who improved to 3-0 in conference play.
The Northwest women (10-2) beat Fort Hays State 5-0 in an early afternoon match before defeating Emporia State 7-2 in Friday's finale. The Bearcat women improved to 6-0 in MIAA play and have won 13 consecutive conference matches dating back to last season.
Rosewell is 415-160 in 25 seasons as head coach of the Northwest women's team. He's 364-192 as head coach of the men. Rosewell has made 14 consecutive NCAA tournament appearances with the Bearcat women and made 11 total appearances with the Bearcat men.
Northwest tennis teams have won a combined 16 MIAA championships under Rosewell, who's been named the league's coach of the year 18 times.
