East Central’s women (#28 nationally, #6 in the South Central region) won two of three doubles matches and four of six singles matches. The Bearcats (#39 nationally, #10 regionally) got straight set wins from Veronica Castilla at No. 4 singles and Erika Leston at No. 5 singles. Leston has won six consecutive singles matches and improved to 13-1 this season.

Northwest’s Lina Gomez and Allison Wulff teamed to score an 8-6 win against Kendra Coltrain and Kristen Clubb at No. 3 doubles. Gomez and Wulff moved to 5-1 overall.

Northwest’s men (#28 nationally, #5 regionally) earned wins at the top two singles positions, but couldn’t overcome a doubles sweep by the Tigers (#33 nationally, #7 regionally). East Central’s Cristobal Nunez and Camilo Munoz pulled off the upset at No. 1 doubles to lead the rally.

Daniel Usieto and Felipe Gennari each pulled upsets against the regionally-ranked players of East Central at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. Both won in straight sets. Calvin Patterson provided the third Bearcat point with a 6-2, 6-3 win against John Sedlak at No. 6 singles. Ryan Westerhoff’s ankle injury led to an easy point for East Central at No. 5 singles.
