Westerhof, Gennari Extend Win Streaks in 6-3 Bearcat Win

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - No. 28 Northwest Missouri State men's tennis (5-1) picked up its second straight win against a nationally-ranked opponent with a 6-3 victory against No. 29 Midwestern Texas (6-6) today at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo.

Felipe Gennari and Ryan Westerhof both extended their win streaks in singles play with straight-set wins today. Gennari and Westerhof retired their opponents in 6-1, 6-3 scores to reach winning streaks of five and six matches, respectively.

Daniel Usieto and Vigit Sehgal both went undefeated on the day between singles and doubles action. The two paired up at No. 1 doubles for an 8-4 win against Chip Threadgill and Tiago Vilarinho. Sehgal later handed Vilarinho another loss at No. 3 singles with a 7-6, 6-3 win while Usieto went three sets for the win at No. 1 singles with Vjekoslav Stipanic.

Up Next: The Bearcats head farther south for a 9 a.m. meeting with No. 8 Drury March 20 in Springfield, Mo.
