MARYVILLE, Mo. - Felipe Gennari's 5-0 mark at No. 2 singles and 4-1 record at No. 2 doubles to start the season earned him MIAA Athlete of the Week honors for the beginning of the season to March 15. Gennari helped lead the No. 28 Northwest Missouri State men's team to four wins in the season's first five matches.

Gennari took straight set wins in his first three singles matches of the season and only dropped a combined nine games in the six sets. The next day in the home-opener, Gennari went 5-5 in the first set with Southwest Baptist's Emilio El Alabi, the nation's No. 42 ranked singles player, before El Alabi retired due to injury.

In doubles action with partner Ryan Westerhof, Gennari won the first three doubles matches of the season and claimed an 8-4 win against SBU's Jorge Palacios and Jorge Margiotta to helped lead Northwest to a 6-3 victory against the No. 26 purple Bearcats.

Gennari and the rest of Bearcat men's tennis team face No. 29 Midwestern State March 19 at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo.
