Men's Tennis Moves to 3-0
ST. JOSEPH, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State's men's tennis team earned its third straight win to begin the 2009 spring season following a 9-0 victory against Missouri Valley College Wednesday at the St. Joseph Tennis and Swim Club.
The Bearcats didn't lose a set during the match and won 73 of 92 games in singles play. Ryan Westerhof won all 12 games against Marko Vulovic at No. 6 singles to earn a 6-0, 6-0 win.
Northwest swept the three doubles matches with the closest competition coming with an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles. Westerhof and Felipe Gennari improved to 3-1 after beating Diego Malaga and Alvar Ribalta 8-2 at No. 2 doubles.
Northwest will take Thursday off before taking on Cameron in Bolivar, Mo., Friday. The Bearcats open conference play Saturday with a home match against Southwest Baptist.
