
MARYVILLE - No. 26 Northwest Missouri State swept doubles action, but could only score a point in singles play in dropping a 5-4 match to Graceland (16-1), the No. 12 team in NAIA rankings.
Northwest (15-6) went up 3-0 after the doubles round, led by a 8-2 performance from Jake Saulsbury and Giovanni Auricchio at No. 3 doubles. The Bearcats held a 4-1 lead through the first two singles matches when Daniel Usieto defeated Miguel Lopez 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.
Felipe Gennari took Carlos Cordova to tiebreakers in both sets in No. 4 singles, but couldn't take the advantage in a 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (9-7) loss.
Up Next: Northwest hosts the NCAA North Central Regional beginning Thursday. The Bearcats take on Emporia State at 1:30 p.m. at Frank Grube Courts.
