Bearcat Squads Take Down UMSL by 7-2 Counts
ST. LOUIS -- (Men W 7-2) (Women W 7-2) The Northwest Missouri State men's and women's tennis teams took down Missouri-St. Louis 7-2 this afternoon from St. Louis. The men's squad, ranked No. 39 in the country and third in the North Central Region, dropped just two singles frames at No. 1 and No. 4. Ranked No. 6 in the region, the women's program snapped a four-match losing skid as No. 1 doubles and No. 5 singles came up on the short end.
The men's double's teams all had competitive matches with No. 1 winning 9-8 followed by 8-5 and 8-4 victories at No. 2 and No. 3. On the women's side, No. 1 through No. 4 singles never allowed more than a point in any set.
The men now improve to 5-3 on the year while the women are at 4-4.
Northwest tennis hosts Southwest Baptist in MIAA matches on Tuesday, March 20 starting at 3 p.m.
