Bearcats Drop Pair of Matches Against Nationally Ranked Teams
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - ( Women 3-6 L vs. DU) The No. 40 Northwest Missouri State men's tennis teams suffered its second loss in as many days in a 5-0 decision to No. 5 Ouachita Baptist in Springfield, Mo., this morning. The women dropped a 6-3 match to No. 10 Drury to move to 3-1 on the season. The men fall to 3-2.
Freshman Veronica Castilla won the only singles match for the women, defeating Megan Blosser 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 5 slot. The Bearcats picked up victories in No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Castilla paired with sophomore Emily Lindsay to win 8-6 over Blosser and Eva Hankova in No. 2 doubles, with sophomore Jordan Lipira and freshman Lisa Pendrak winning in No. 3 doubles 8-5 over Lindsey Castrodale and Mouna Sabri.
Individual match results from the men's match against Ouachita Baptist were not yet compiled.
The men were victors over Cowley (Kan.) College 6-1, but the women lost 5-2 to the Tigers. Junior college matches do not count towards the overall record.
Both Northwest teams will host Midwestern (Texas) State in a 2:30 p.m. match on March 12. The match will represent the 2007 home opener for the men's squad.
