Smith and Saulsbury Finish Eighth at ITA Championships
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Northwest Missouri State men's tennis doubles team of senior Chris Smith (Johannesburg, South Africa) and junior Jake Saulsbury (Lexington, Neb.) dropped their final two matches of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Small College Tournament today. The duo finished the tournament in eighth.
Smith and Saulsbury lost to Taavo Roos and Davor Zink of Armstrong Atlantic early this afternoon 6-4, 6-3 in the first match of the losers bracket. The tandem fell 6-1, 6-2 to Santiago Baquerizo and Lukas Labitsch of Kutztown (Pa.) in the seventh-place match.
The two won the ITA North Central Regional title on Oct. 1 to advance to the National Small College Tournament.

The ITA is the governing body of collegiate tennis and promotes the athletic and academic achievements of college tennis. The ITA Small College Championships began in 1986, and are the only national tournaments for singles and doubles at the NCAA Division II level.
