Bearcat Women Remain Perfect on the Year After 6-3 Win Over Nebraska-Omaha; Rosewell Notches 700th Career Win
MARYVILLE, Mo.- Head coach Mark Rosewell notched win No. 700 after Northwest Missouri State women's tennis took down Nebraska-Omaha 6-3 this afternoon at Frank Grube Tennis Courts. Rosewell is in his 22nd season and holds a combined men's and women's record of 700-336. Northwest was ranked No. 1 in the North Central Region while UNO was second.Senior Gena Lindsay, newly crowned MIAA athlete of the week for the third time earlier today, continued her winning streak with a 2-6, 6-0, 6-1 victory over Katie Schmidt in No. 1 singles. Lindsay is sitting on a 26-game No. 1 singles winning streak. The bottom three Northwest singles slots were victorious including straight wins from freshmen Emily Lindsay at No. 6 (6-2, 6-3) and Jordan Lipira at No. 5 (6-4, 6-0).
Lindsay teamed up with senior Erica Ramirez at No. 1 doubles to take down Maggie Russell and Rachel Faulk, 8-6. The duo now hold a 10-3 record on the year at No. 1 doubles winning four of their last five matches.
Both Northwest squads travel to Washburn for MIAA matches tomorrow (Wednesday) beginning at 3 p.m. The Northwest women stand 14-0 on the year while the men sport an 8-6 mark.
