Northwest Senior Gena Lindsay Wins MIAA Honor
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Northwest Missouri State senior tennis athlete Gena Lindsay (St. Joseph, Mo.) received Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Athlete of the Week honor for the week of March 19.
Last week, Lindsay went 1-1 in doubles action with teammate Erica Ramirez, and 2-0 in singles play. The biggest win for Lindsay last week, was the 6-2, 6-4 win over defending MIAA singles champion, Emporia's Marcela Bayon.
"It's a big honor because of all the people we play against," Lindsay said. "Only a few players get this honor, and I haven't gotten Athlete of the Week in sometime, so it's awesome."
Lindsay is ranked No. 29 in Division II singles by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association and is a graduate of St. Joseph Central.
