Bearcats host NCAA Watch Party
MARYVILLE, Mo. – Northwest Missouri State men’s basketball has announced they will hold a watch party on NCAA Selection Sunday, March 4 at Carson’s Bar & Grill in Maryville.
The event is open to the public as the Bearcats will gather as a team to learn if they will earn an at-large bid into the NCAA tournament. The selection show will air via ncaa.com and will begin approximately at 9:30 p.m. CST.
Northwest fell in the MIAA Basketball Championship Tournament Saturday, 56-53 to Pittsburg State. The Gorillas advance to the championship game to take on top seed Washburn as the two teams will play for the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Midwestern State clinched the automatic bid from the Lone Star Conference on Saturday while St. Mary’s (Texas) earned the Heartland Conference’s automatic bid. After the MIAA bid is awarded to the winner of Washburn and Pittsburg State, five more at-large bids will be handed out by the NCAA selection committee along with first-round matchups and site hosts.
Check back to Northwestbearcats.com Sunday night to see if Northwest has earned one of the final five spots into the NCAA South Central Region. The NCAA tournament kicks off with eight regional tournament sites hosting the 64-team field March 10. The eight winners of each region will meet in Highland Heights, Ky., for the 2012 NCAA Elite Eight March 21-22 and 24.
