MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State men’s basketball team looks to stay perfect on the year as it hosts Pittsburg State at Bearcat Arena Wednesday night as fans are invited to celebrate the holidays in the ‘Ville with the Bearcats.

The Bearcats enter Wednesday’s MIAA matchup with the Gorillas at 7-0 and 2-0 in conference play. PSU enters at 5-3 overall and 1-1 in league action, coming off a loss at Truman State last Saturday.

Northwest is led offensively by junior guard DeShaun Cooper, who is averaging 16.1 points per game. However, Cooper has had help from a number of Bearcats, including fellow junior DeAngelo Hailey who poured in a season high 20 points before fouling out against Washburn Saturday.

Head Coach Ben McCollum’s Bearcats are one of the top-ranked defensive teams in the MIAA opponents to under 55 points per game and holding a plus-3.1 edge in the turnover column.

Students and fans are encouraged to support the Bearcats by wearing their ugliest Christmas sweaters and entering the “Ugly Sweater Contest.” Bobby Bearcat will also be dressed in his holiday attire and available for pictures between games. Fans are encouraged to bring their own camera as a photographer will not be provided.
