Bearcats Lose at No. 22 Fort Hays State
HAYS, Kan.-Girod Adams led Northwest Missouri State with 17 points and Edriss Floyd had 16 but they were the only two Bearcats to score in double figures as Northwest fell Wednesday night to No. 22 Fort Hays State, 66-78.
Floyd had a team-high six rebounds in the game while DeShaun Cooper had five points and four assists. Elijah Allen had eight points, snapping his 11-game streak of games with ten points or more. Northwest struggled shooting 37 percent from the field and 64 percent from the free throw line. Fort Hays shot 48 percent for the game and went 25-of-30 from the charity stripe.
The game was close in the opening half as Northwest was ahead by four points with 13 minutes to go in the opening stanza. Northwest would cut a seven point deficit down to tie the game going into halftime at 32. Fort Hays would jump out to an early lead in the second half as Northwest kept it within single digits before Fort Hays would go on a 16-2 run with nine minutes left in the game. Fort Hays would close out the game leading by no less than 10 points to seal the victory.
Northwest (5-2, 1-2 MIAA) looks to rebound on Saturday, Dec. 12 as the Bearcats host Nebraska-Omaha in Bearcat Arena at 7:30 p.m.
