Hot Shooting, Allen's 25 Paces Bearcats
MARYVILLE, Mo.-Elijah Allen scored a career-high 25 points to lead five Bearcats in double figures and pace Northwest Missouri State to a 99-70 win against Baker Tuesday at Bearcat Arena. Northwest (3-0) has placed five in double figures in all three contests this season.
Allen scored 17 first-half points and finished 10-of-17 from the field. Northwest shot 59 percent for the game (40-of-68) and made 11-of-20 three-pointers. The Bearcats also handed out a season-high 25 assists.
Girod Adams and DeShaun Cooper chipped in 15 points each for the Bearcats. Adams added six rebounds and six assists. Cooper had eight assists, giving him 20 in his first three games.
Baker entered the contest 6-2 overall and a winner of five in a row, but counted tonight's game as an exhibition. Malcolm Greer scored 21 points and Andre Strozier finished with 15 points and nine rebounds to lead the Wildcats.
Arunas Simanavicius capped a 15-0, Northwest run in the first half with a steal-and-score followed by a deep three-pointer. The Bearcats held Baker scoreless for more than five minutes and led 33-14 less than six minutes before halftime.
Allen has averaged better than 20 points through three games and is shooting 66 percent from the field. He was 8-of-11 in the first half and finished with five rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Jake Petersen came off the bench and hit three 3-pointers for the Bearcats. Northwest's bench outscored Baker's 31-5.
