Chad Van Riessen

Chad Van Riessen has been a fixture on the Bearcat sidelines since the 2007-08 season. He spent one year as a graduate assistant with the program before earning a full-time position in the summer of 2008. Since his arrival, he's contributed to a Northwest MIAA tournament title and an NCAA tournament appearance that concluded in the round of 32.
Prior to his arrival in Maryville, Van Riessen spent three years as the head boys basketball coach at Putnam County High School in Unionville, Mo. There, he led the program to a Tri-Rivers Conference Championship in 2006, a district crown in 2007 and a 61-19 record overall. He was rewarded with conference coach of the year honors in 2007.
Van Riessen began his coaching career as a varsity assistant girls basketball coach at PCM High School in Monroe, Iowa. He helped lead the Mustangs to back-to-back state tournament appearances and a combined 39-10 record in two seasons with the program.
Van Riessen is a native of DeMotte, Ind. He earned his bachelor's degree in exercise science from Central College in Pella, Iowa, and his master's degree in athletic administration from Northwest.
