Harris Scores 25 in Win Against Rockhurst
ST. JOSEPH, Mo.-DaJuan Harris scored 25 points and Hunter Henry added 16 points and 12 rebounds to lead 16th-ranked Northwest Missouri State to an 85-66 win against Rockhurst Friday at the Hillyard Classic hosted by Missouri Western State University.
Harris recorded the most points by a Bearcat in a regulation game since Henry dropped 28 on Midwestern State back in 2006. Harris was 11-of-19 from the floor and added seven boards, two assists and two steals to his tally.
Henry notched his 16th career double-double while moving into fifth place on Northwest's all-time rebounding list. Henry has 20 boards in the season's first two games and has 593 in his career.
The Hawks (0-1) were led by Aaron Hill, who hit eight 3-pointers and finished with 29 points. He was 6-of-10 from long range in the first half, but went 3-of-7 from the field in the second.
The Bearcats (2-0) shot 56 percent in the first half and took a 46-41 lead into the break. Shawn Carter scored eight of the Bearcats' first 10 points and finished with 12.
Northwest used a 17-2 run to take a 71-50 lead midway through the second half. Harris had seven points during the rally and teamed with Edriss Floyd to knock down back-to-back 3's.
The Bearcats had a 42-22 edge on the boards and turned 20 Hawk turnovers into 31 points. Floyd had three steals to go with 10 points. Mike Larsen had 10 points, two assists and four steals.
Northwest continues play at the Classic at 5:30 p.m. Saturday against Arkansas Tech.
