KIRKSVILLE, Mo.-Mike Larsen scored a season-high 14 points and Elijah Allen tied his season high of 12 to lead Northwest Missouri State to a 64-50 win at Truman Wednesday inside Pershing Arena. The Bearcats (12-4, 4-3 MIAA) improved to 8-0 in games played away from Maryville this season.

Northwest has won four of its last five games at Pershing Arena and eight of its last 10 against Truman (3-13, 2-5 MIAA). The Bulldogs shot better than 50 percent from the floor, but committed 18 turnovers which led to 25 Northwest points. Larsen had three of the Bearcats eight steals.

Larsen hit three 3-pointers and had 11 points in the first half. He scored eight of the Bearcats' first 15 points. His second 3 ignited an 8-0 run that gave Northwest a 20-10 lead near the eight-minute mark of the half.

The Bulldogs responded with leading scorer Nick Certa, who scored seven unanswered points and 11 straight for Truman.

Certa got the Bulldogs within three, 20-17, but was quickly answered with back-to-back 3's by Mose Howard and Larsen. Matt Withers got two in the paint and Andrais Thornton's spin move on the left-hand block led to a layup and the Bearcats' largest lead of the half, 30-19. Northwest led 34-24 at the break.

Truman twice cut the lead to five early in the second-half, but drew no closer. Thornton got a block on the defensive end and pitched to Larsen, who found Allen for a bank shot on the fast break. Allen then stole the ball and was rewarded on the ensuing possession with a wide open 3 to push the Bearcat lead to 10, 45-35 with 11 minutes to play.

Larsen and John Hawkins hit back-to-back 3-pointers to push the lead to 14 with just under six to play. The Bearcats knocked down four shots in a row and sank two free throws in the final four minutes to seal the win. Howard nailed a pair of tough jumpers during the run.

Certa was held scoreless in the first 16 minutes of the second half and finished with 15. Patrick Fandja had 14 points and eight rebounds for Truman. No other Bulldog scored more than five.

For Northwest, Howard and Hunter Henry had nine points. Withers finished with eight. Larsen was 4-for-4 from 3-point range and finished two points shy of his career high.
