Northwest Gets A First-Place Vote; Ranked No. 3

MARYVILLE, Mo.-A 5-0 start highlighted by a road win at 10th-ranked Southern Indiana has the Bearcats with one first-place vote and a move up one spot to No. 3 in the latest rankings released by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). It's Northwest's highest ranking since Feb. 4, 2004, when the Bearcats were ranked No. 2.

Bentley (Mass.) received six of eight first-place votes and took the top spot away from Winona State, who lost at home last week to D-III St. Thomas. Grand Valley State (Mich.) received one first-place vote and is 10 points ahead of the Bearcats in the No. 2 position.

Northwest has won its five games by an average of 31.2 points per game. The Bearcats have held opponents to 50.2 points per game, the lowest average in the MIAA. Hunter Henry has averaged 16.8 points per game, which ranks fifth in the league.

The Bearcats next host Nebraska-Omaha at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1. Northwest has won 19 straight games at Bearcat Arena, tied for the third-longest streak in the D-II.
