Howard's 15 Paces Northwest Past Tabor
MARYVILLE, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State point guard Mose Howard scored all of his game-high 15 points in the first half to lead the Bearcats to a 97-49 win against Tabor Tuesday at Bearcat Arena. It's the third straight 30-point win for Northwest to begin the season.
Howard led six Bearcats in double figures, the first time that's occurred in two seasons. Lance Sullivan had 12 points, Hunter Henry, Eddie Gray and Elijah Allen had 11 and Andy Peterson added 10.
Northwest scored the first 15 and 17 points of the first and second halves, respectively. The Bearcats led 26-6 eight minutes into the contest. Howard was 6-for-7 in the first half and was 2-for-2 from behind the arc. Northwest hit seven of its season-high nine 3-pointers in the first half.
The Bearcats led 55-26 at halftime and held Tabor scoreless for nearly seven minutes to begin the second half. Aaron Whitelaw scored six points in each half and led the Blue Jays with 12. Zach Vanselow chipped in nine points.
Andrais Thornton pulled down a season-high 13 rebounds to go with eight points. Six of his rebounds were offensive. Peterson was 2-for-2 from 3-point range and dished out four assists for the second game in a row.
Northwest next travels to Evansville, Ind., for a Thanksgiving tournament hosted by the University of Southern Indiana. The Bearcats open play at the Bill Joergens Memorial Tournament at 4:15 p.m. (CST) Friday against Bellarmine. The Bearcats will take on the host-Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
