Hunter Henry Nabs Daktronics South Central Region First Team Honors

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State sophomore forward Hunter Henry (Lenexa, Kan.) has been mentioned on the 2007 Daktronics Men's Basketball All-South Central Region First Team, announced today by Daktronics. Henry is the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) Most Valuable Player and All-MIAA First Team unanimous pick.

Henry leads his team in scoring (17.9 ppg), rebounding (7.7 rpg), field goal percentage (.576), blocks (36) and minutes played (811). He currently is on a 25-game scoring streak of over 10 points and owns nine double-doubles this year. The MIAA All-Tournament Team member finds himself in the school's top 10 in scoring (9th), rebounding (8th), blocks (tied-fifth), and field goal percentage (5th). A graduate of Shawnee Mission West High School, Henry poured in a career-high 33 points on Feb. 14 -- the most for a Bearcat since 1999.

The First and Second Teams comprise three conferences, the MIAA, the Heartland Conference (HC) and the Lone Star Conference (LSC). Henry is joined by two other MIAA representatives, Zach Wright of Central Missouri on the First Team and Donta Watson of Emporia State from the Second Team. The teams are voted on by regional Sports Information Directors.

Northwest participates in the 2007 NCAA South Central Region Tournament, hosted by Central Missouri from March 10-11 & 13. Northwest, who is the No. 4 seed, will play against No. 5 seed Pittsburg State at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday with the semifinal to take place on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. It is the 11th appearance in NCAA history for the Bearcats and seventh in the last eight years. Overall, the men are 10-12 all-time in postseason games after advancing to the 2006 South Central Region Championship.
