Bearcats Stroll to 91-68 Exhibition Win Over Dreambuilders
MARYVILLE - ( stats) Fueled by a 13-0 run to start the game, the Northwest Missouri State men's basketball team strolled to a 91-68 victory tonight against Dreambuilders in exhibition action from Bearcat Arena. Junior forward Matt Withers totaled eight of those early points to finish with a game-high 18 in 21 minutes of action.
Dreambuilders, a team comprised of former college basketball athletes ranging from junior college to Division I, came to within 47-31 at the half but could not cut the deficit under 12 points. Northwest sprinted out to the early lead thanks in part to 51 percent first-half shooting and 16 visitor turnovers.
Northwest finished 9-of-21 from three-point range and was 52 percent overall from the floor. Eight Northwest players scored at least eight points and four were in double-figures. Juniors Kelvin Cayruth and Dillon Higdon, along with freshman Lance Sullivan, each chipped in 11 points. Cayruth added a game-best nine boards.
