Osborn Leaves Men's Basketball Team

MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State sophomore guard Joel Osborn (Harlan, Iowa) has decided to leave the men's basketball team, announced head coach Steve Tappmeyer today. A 2004 graduate of Harlan Community High School, Osborn appeared in just six games averaging 7.5 minutes this year. His first appearance of the season came on Dec. 17 versus Dallas Christian. A player known for his three-point accuracy, Osborn ranked third in the conference in three-point percentage (.423) in 2004-05.

Osborn cites a reason to focus on football. During 2005, Osborn was listed as the No. 3 quarterback for the NCAA Division II Runner-up Bearcats.

Northwest travels to No. 24 Truman State on Wednesday, Jan. 25 for a league encounter beginning at 7:30 p.m. Truman got past Emporia State this afternoon 61-58.
