McCollum is a native of Storm Lake Iowa and began his college career at North Iowa Area CC. He was a two-time all-region performer for NIACC prior to transferring to Northwest Missouri State. His junior year the Bearcats advanced to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight.
"I'm really excited to be at Emporia State," said McCollum. "I know that ESU has a solid program under coach Moe and I want to continue that tradition of success."
The Hornets were 16-12 last season, their third straight winning season under coach Moe and were ranked as high as tenth in the nation at one point. ESU returns six letterwinners, including leading scorer Tyrell
