Vanderslice Leaves Men's Basketball TeamMARYVILLE, Mo. -- Sophomore guard Josh Vanderslice (Omaha, Neb.) has left the Northwest Missouri State men's basketball team for personal reasons this past weekend. This season marked the first one for Vanderslice at Northwest. Prior to that, he played one season at Southwestern CC (Iowa).
Through eight games, Vanderslice averaged 9.6 points, 2.5 assists and a team-leading 1.5 steals per contest. He was a starter in six contests. From the free thow line, he hit 22-of-25 (.880) attempts. He went for 10 or more points in four games and led the team three times in assists and twice in steals.
The 'Cats take a week off before appearing at the Hoop-N-Surf Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii for games on Dec. 19-20. Northwest takes on Mars Hill (N.C.) at 4 p.m. CST on Sunday and St. Thomas Aquinas (N.Y.) at 6 p.m. CST on Monday.
