Henry Joins Bearcat Men's Basketball Program
MARYVILLE, Mo. -- Northwest Missouri State University head men's basketball coach Steve Tappmeyer has announced the signing of Hunter Henry (Shawnee Mission, Kan.) to a national letter-of-intent. Henry will be coming to Northwest from Shawnee Mission West High School.
Henry is a 6-foot 8-inch forward. He averaged 17.3 points per game for head coach Mike Brinsko's Shawnee Mission West team last season. Henry was also a presence inside last season, pulling down 9.4 rebounds and blocking 3.0 shots per contest. He dished out 3.1 assists per game and converted on 55 percent of his field-goal attempts. Henry was a 50-percent shooter (20-for-40) from the three-point line and hit 72 percent of his free-throw attempts as a senior.
Henry was honored as an Honorable Mention All-State selection. He was named First-Team All-Johnson County and First-Team All-Sunflower League. Henry was named the Shawnee Mission West team Most Valuable Player and was on the all-tournament team at Olathe South's tournament.
"We are extremely pleased that Hunter has chosen to be a member of the Bearcat family," Tappmeyer said. "He has had outstanding success at Shawnee Mission West, yet we feel his best basketball is yet to come. He has the capability to be an impact player in this league. Most important, he is the kind of player, student and person that fits into the Northwest program."
