Houston Joins Bearcat Basketball Program
MARYVILLE, Mo. -- Northwest Missouri State University head men's basketball coach Steve Tappmeyer has announced the signing of Addae Houston (Dallas, Texas) to a national letter-of-intent. Houston is transferring to Northwest from Eastfield College in Mesquite, Texas.
Houston is a 5-foot 8-inch point guard. He earned Honorable Mention All-America honors at Eastfield last season. Houston was also named First-Team All-Region V and first-team all-conference. He led Eastfield to a runner-up finish in the National Junior College Athletic Association Tournament and a 26-10 record. Houston scored an average of 11.1 points, dished out 5.9 rebounds, nabbed 2.2 steals and pulled down 3.8 rebounds per game for Eastfield last season.
Houston shot better than 52 percent from the field, 43 percent from three-point range and 77 percent from the free-throw line last season. He scored 30 points, dished out 10 assists, grabbed seven rebounds and snagged five steals in the quarterfinal game of the NJCAA Tournament.
"We are extremely excited to have Addae join our program," Tappmeyer said. "We feel he is a great fit for our team and will make an immediate impact."
Eastfield Junior College is coached by former Bearcat player and assistant coach Chris Johnson. Eastfield also won the Metro Athletic Conference Tournament last season.
Houston has three semesters of eligibility remaining. He will sit out the fall semester in 2004 and join the Bearcats for the following spring semester. He will have a full year of eligibility for his senior season
