Northwest Thumps Central Bible College, 78-57

MARYVILLE , Mo. - No. 16 Northwest Missouri State University picked up a 78-57 win over Central Bible College Saturday afternoon at Bearcat Arena. It was the final home non-conference game of the season for the 'Cats, who improved to 6-0.

Central Bible College held a 3-2 lead early in the contest. But the Spartans' lead would last only one minute, five seconds. A three-pointer from Kelvin Parker (Sr., Raytown, Mo.) with 18:32 remaining in the first half put Northwest on top for good.

Parker's trey also sparked a 19-2 Northwest outburst that put the Bearcats in control. Austin Meyer (Soph., Blue Springs, Mo.) and Byron Jackson (Jr., Phoenix, Ariz.) each scored five points during the offensive spurt, which left Northwest up 21-5 seven minutes into the game.

CBC pulled back within five, 23-18, but the Bearcats pulled away again. Northwest exploded for a 17-3 run over the final eight minutes of the first half to take a 40-21 lead into the intermission. A Parker three-pointer sparked the spurt, which was capped by a Sky Wilson (Jr., Indio, Calif.) layup in the final minute of the half.

Northwest led by as many as 25 in the second half. The Spartans never pulled closer than 16 in the second period.

The Bearcats were led by a trinity of double-figure scorers. Jackson recorded his third double-double of the season with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Parker added 15 and Meyer tallied 13. The lone bright spot for Central Bible College was Will Kitchen, who scored 20 points and hit six three-pointers in the contest.
