Northwest Bearcats

David "D.C." Colt

From 1981 until 2008, successful Bearcat teams were accompanied by an even more successful athletic trainer. Devoted Head Trainer Dr. David “D.C.” Colt not only dedicated his time to athletes, but also juggled obligations as a teacher for the Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. It comes as no surprise that Colt resides as a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Hall of Fame, Missouri Athletic Trainers’ Association Sports Medicine Hall of Fame, the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame and the Mid-America Athletic Trainers’ Association Hall of Fame for his timeless commitment to student-athletes here at Northwest.

This Buffalo, New York native received his undergraduate degree from West Virginia University in 1977 and his master’s degree from Northwest one year later. He would return to Maryville four years later to begin his tenure with the Bearcats.

Since his departure from Northwest in 2008, Colt was an athletic trainer for the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado until this past spring.

Today, Dr. David “D.C.” Colt is an instructor in the Health and Exercise Science Department at Mid-America Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas.
