Charteris finishes 28th at NCAAs
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Sophomore Steph Charteris closed the history book Tuesday with a 28th place finish in the NCAA Central Region Championship at the St. Joseph Country Club.
Charteris became the first Northwest Missouri State women’s golfer to compete in an NCAA Championship in the program’s brief six-year history.
A native of Ontario, Canada, Charteris fired a 12-over 84 in the final round to finish +36 for the tournament. Charteris finished with two double bogeys at the turn on No. 9 and No. 10, but rebounded with a par on No. 11 to keep her round in the single digits at the time.
Charteris finished tied with four other golfers at 28th as Rebecka Surtevall of Arkansas Tech claimed the championship with a 231. A quartet of individuals participated in the tournament with nine teams as three individuals and three teams advance to the NCAA National Tournament.
The sophomore closes the season with three tournament wins and seven top 10 finishes.
