Bearcat golf adds pair for 2012-13
MARYVILLE, Mo. – Head Coach Pat McLaughlin and the Northwest Missouri State women’s golf team has announced the signings of Amber Norman and Brooke Byland for the 2012-13 season.
“I’m excited to welcome these new young players to the Northwest women's golf program,” said McLaughlin. “I believe they can help this team improve on our overall performance.”
Norman comes from Blue Valley North High School in Leawood, Kan. She helped the Huskies capture three consecutive Kansas State Championships and recorded a 16th place finish at the state tournament. As a senior, she was the top player with an 82 stroke average, finished third at the conference championships and seventh at regionals.
Byland is a local product who helped Maryville High to a second place finish at the Missouri State Championships during her senior season. Individually she placed 17th at the state tournament and third at the district championships. She also helped lead the Spoofhounds to a first place team finish in conference and district play.
Northwest is coming off one of the most prolific seasons in the program’s young history with McLaughlin being named MIAA Coach of the Year on Tuesday.
