Bearcats falter in fall finale
PARKVILLE, Mo. - Playing a player down the Northwest Missouri State women's golf team ran into their first struggles in the fall season finale at the Park University Fall Invitational on The Duce Course at National Golf Club of Kansas City.
Freshmen Steph Charteris led Northwest with a ninth place finish and a two-day total 167. Charteris top 10 finish came 19 strokes behind Ana Laura Gomez of Bellevue who took home the tournament title.
Northwest struggled both days shooting their highest score of the fall season, 352-354-706 and a sixth place finish. MIAA foes Fort Hays State took home a the team title while rival Missouri Western finished third just days after taking the title at last week's Bearcat Fall Golf Classic.
Jacy Gasper was the only other Northwest golfer to finish in the top 20 with a 173 as the Bearcats played with four players both days. Sophomore Cassie Lowell was forced to withdraw after a knee injury forced her out of Monday's first round.
Tess Edwards shot a 181 and tied for 22nd while Ashley Powers rounded out the Bearcat scoring with a 185 and a 27th place finish.
Northwest closes out the fall season with three first place finishes and two runner-up finishes. Individually, Lowell closed out the fall season with two wins while freshmen Charteris picked up her first collegiate win at the Fort Hays State Invite.
