Bearcats open season with fourth-place finish
ST. JOSEPH, Mo.-Lindenwood University had the top three finishers at the Missouri Western Invitational on its way to recording a 12-stroke victory on Monday afternoon in St. Joseph. Northwest Missouri State finished in fourth place.
The Bearcats shot rounds of 341 on Sunday and 343 on Monday to finish 38 strokes back of Lindenwood. Senior Jessica Feuerbach led the way for Northwest in its spring season-opener. Feuerbach placed seventh with a two round total of 163, 11 shots behind medalist Megan Burgess.
Cassie Lowell finished in 10th-place with rounds of 84 and 81. Tess Edwards and Erin Luchtel tied for 22nd with a total score of 178 each. Kristina D'Angela ended in a tie for 42nd-place with a score of 188.
In all, 10 teams competed at the invite. The Bearcats finished seven shots better than Fort Hays State and were 14 strokes back of Missouri Western. Northwest returns to action on April 4 when they host the two-day Green and Gold Shootout along with Missouri Western at the Mozingo Lake and Fairview golf courses.
