Northwest Golfers Fourth at UNO Classic
OMAHA, Neb.-Northwest Missouri State's golf team placed fourth at the Nebraska-Omaha Fall Classic hosted by The Pines Country Club Monday and Tuesday.
Eight teams competed including all five MIAA programs. The host Mavericks won the event with a two-day total of 640 (320 both days). Concordia made up 11 strokes on day two to tie Truman for second place with 665 strokes. Northwest finished 11 strokes behind them in fourth place.
Northwest had won its previous three tournaments and its top golfer, Cassie Lowell, took medalist honors in the last two. Lowell finished fourth in the individual race Tuesday at 13-over-par. Truman's Jennifer Lawson at 10-over-par earned a one-stroke victory against Mavericks Armana Christianson and Ricca Soper.
Bearcat senior Jessica Feuerbach shot a collegiate-best 6-over-par Tuesday (79) to finish in a tie for sixth place at 17-over-par. Teammates Erin Luchtel and Megan Chaney placed 34th and 36th, respectively.
Northwest will host the Bearcat Fall Classic Thursday and Friday at Mozingo Lake Golf Course east of Maryville. It's the first home event of the season for the Bearcats, who wrap up their fall slate next week at Avila.
