Bearcats Win Third Consecutive Tournament
LAWRENCE, Kan.-Northwest Missouri State won its third golf tournament in a row at the Ottawa Invitational played Monday and Tuesday. It is the first time in program history that the Bearcats have won three consecutive tournaments.
Northwest shot a two-day, program-record 642 as a team. The Bearcats also set a program-record by shooting a 320 over 18 holes in the second round. Northwest won by 20 strokes against second-place Southwestern College.
Freshman Cassie Lowell took medalist honors by shooting a program-best 154 over 36 holes for the tournament. It's Lowell's second consecutive first-place finish and her fourth consecutive finish in the top three. Both accomplishments are program firsts.
Erin Luchtel placed second behind Lowell by firing a 156 for the tournament. Luchtel's second round 76 is a career-low and her second-place finish is a career-best. Her 76 is tied for the second-best round in program history.
Jessica Feuerbach shot a 160 and finished tied for fourth. Megan Chaney finished ninth, shooting 172. Tess Edwards rounded out the Bearcats with a 183, good for 16th-place.
Northwest will look to make it four in a row next week at the Nebraska-Omaha Classic Oct. 4-5 at the Pines Country Club.
