Chaney Places Sixth at Home Meet
MARYVILLE, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State sophomore Megan Chaney fired back-to-back rounds of 85 and 88 to lead the Bearcats to a fourth-place finish at the Bearcat Invitational hosted by Mozingo Lake Golf Course Thursday and Friday.
Six teams battled wind and rain Thursday and wind gusts of more than 25 miles per hour Friday. Nebraska-Omaha won the meet with a two-day total of 670. Missouri Western's total of 700 took second. Iowa Western (737) and Northwest (747) took third and fourth, respectively.
Chaney placed sixth out of 39 golfers, her best finish in three meets this fall. Junior Jessica Feuerbach took 12th place with a two-day total of 173. Junior Erin Luchtel placed 21st with a total of 190.
Nebraska-Omaha's Armana Christianson held a one-stroke lead after day one and held off teammate Rebecca Pollock on day two to earn medalist honors. Christian's 21-over-par 165 (78-87) was two strokes better than Pollock's 167 (84-83).
