Bearcats Finish Fifth at Avila/Evangel Invitational
CLINTON, Mo.--The Northwest Missouri State women's golf team competed in the Avila/Evangel Invitational Sept. 27-28. The team shot a score of 803, which was good for fifth place at the tournament; Baker University took home first place while shooting a 737. Northwest coach Pat McLaughlin felt the unfamiliarity to the course was what prevented the team from shooting a better score.
"We had a difficult time with the course layout which included lots of trees and a much different environment than the Mozingo layout the team is used to playing," said McLaughlin. "It was good for us as a team to learn from this and have our players prepare accordingly for our next tournament."
The top two finishers for Northwest were Jessica Fuerbach and Hanna Bowlin, who shot 190 and 191, respectively. Sarah Hayes (204), Sydney Askin (224) and Adrienne Taylor (227) rounded out the scoring for Northwest.
