Football earns 38 MIAA academic honors

MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State University football team had six student-athletes named Scholar-Athletes and thirty-two others were named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll in a release from the conference office on Thursday.

To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete award, a student-athlete has to maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or above and have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution. Trevor Adams who is majoring in Biology/ Psychology has a 3.94 GPA, Kyle Goodburn is majoring in Business Management with a 3.53 GPA, Eric Reimer majors in Business Management & Marketing with a 3.89 GPA, Cody Carlson is majoring in Physical Education with a 3.62 GPA, Bryant Hummel is majoring in Mathematics Education with a 3.51 GPA and Joel Gantz is majoring in Agricultural Science with a 3.68 GPA.

All twenty-six student athletes who earned a spot on the MIAA Academic Honor Roll had to have a GPA of 3.00 and have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution. Joining the six Scholar-Athletes on the Honor Roll are; Kevin Arnold, Kevin Berg, Zachary Callahan, Phillip Cline, Bradley Dinwiddie, Jared Fox, Phillip Jackson, Bryce Johnston, Jason Jozaites, Zachary Kallman, Cale Korbelik, Denver Lohnes, Zachary Maloley, Robert Mann, Sean O’Conner, Tristan Patterson, Preston Pederson, Jayron Robinson, Timothy Schieber, Montay Simmons, Brandon Sleep, Shane Smith, James Thieman, DeAndre Thomas, Benjamin Trewyn, Alexander Visk, Jacob Vollstedt, Cassidy Weitl, Michael Wickham, Connor Wilson, Bryce Young, and Kyle Zimmerman.

Northwest finished the season 11-0 and won the outright MIAA championship, the 25th conference title in program history. The Bearcats earned the top seed in the NCAA Division II playoff’s Super Region Three, and will host the winner of the Minnesota Duluth and Emporia State contest on Nov. 30 at noon at Bearcat Stadium.
