Complete CoSIDA Academic All-America Team
MARYVILLE, Mo. – Northwest Missouri State senior Nate DeJong and junior Trevor Adams were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America and announced on Thursday.
Adams earned his second Academic All-America honor being named to the second-team as DeJong was also named to the second-team and picked up his first honor. Both players helped Northwest finish 10-3 on the season and earn a ninth straight NCAA Division II playoff appearance, the longest current streak in the nation.
DeJong helped lead one of the nation’s toughest defenses holding opponents to just 13 points per game, the third best mark in NCAA Division II. The senior safety led the Bearcats with seven interceptions on the year as Northwest as a team led the nation with 28 picks. The Rock Rapids, Iowa native carries a 3.56 GPA and is majoring in biology.
Adams finished his first full season as the Bearcats’ signal caller throwing for more than 2,500 yards and 23 touchdowns. The Odessa, Texas native moved into the Northwest all-time top 10 list for touchdown passes (44) and has thrown for 4,726 yards in two seasons. A double major in biology and psychology, Adams carries a 3.96 GPA.
