Bearcats move to No. 3 in Region Rankings
MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State football team moved up one spot to No. 3 in the NCAA Super Region 3 rankings released by the NCAA Monday afternoon.
The Bearcats are currently 9-1 on the season and host Missouri Western (9-1) in the regular season finale Saturday 2:30 p.m. at Bearcat Stadium. Both teams enter at 8-1 in the MIAA as the winner will claim the 2012 MIAA Championship and secure an automatic berth in the NCAA Division II playoffs. The official pairings will be announced Sunday at 4 p.m. (EST) on the official NCAA.com Selection Show at ncaa.com.
Minnesota State-Mankato (10-0) holds the top spot in the region after a win against Sioux Falls last week. Checking in at No. 2 is Henderson State (9-0) the only other undefeated team in Super Region 3.
Following the Bearcats is Harding at No. 4 with Missouri Western at No. 5 and Minnesota Duluth rounding out the top six. The top six teams in each region earn a spot in the playoffs as the top two teams receive a first round bye and seeds No. 3 and No. 4 host No. 5 and No. 6 in a first round game.
Winona State currently sits on the outside at No. 7 followed by Emporia State at No. 8 who fell out of the top six after last week’s loss to Northwest. Sioux Falls sits at No. 9 and Southern Arkansas rounds out the top 10. Below is a complete look at Super Region 3 Rankings:
