Bearcats stand 5th in first regional rankings
MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State Bearcats, who held steady at No. 5 in the AFCA Top 25 Monday, opened at No. 5 in the first NCAA Super Region 3 rankings released by the NCAA.
Northwest currently sits at 7-1 on the season and are one of three MIAA teams ranked in the top 10 of the first rankings. The top six teams earn a spot in the NCAA Division II playoffs with the top two teams earning a bye in the first round set to kickoff Nov. 17.
Minnesota State Mankato (8-0) sits at No. 1 followed by Henderson State (8-0) who is also undefeated at No. 2. Joining Henderson State from the Great American Conference is Harding (6-1) at No. 3 followed by MIAA opponent, Emporia State (8-0) at No. 4.
In the sixth spot behind the Bearcats is Minnesota Duluth at 7-1 and Winona State (6-2) at No. 7. First-year NCAA Division II member Sioux Falls(7-1) sits on the bubble at No. 8 followed by Missouri Western (7-1) at No. 9 and Ouachita Baptist (6-1) rounding out the top 10.
The NCAA Regional Rankings are released each Monday afternoon throughout the remainder of the season with the final playoff pairings being announced Sunday Nov. 11.
