Adams and Simmons honored by MIAA
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – On the heels of the 7th-ranked Northwest Missouri State football team’s biggest win of the season, junior quarterback Trevor Adams and senior running back Jordan Simmons were named MIAA Players of the Week as announced by the league Monday.
Adams had a record tying performance Saturday tossing five touchdown passes in a 70-7 win over Central Oklahoma. The junior threw two touchdown passes in the first two minutes of the game to Tyler Shaw and added a third to the senior receiver later in the game. He tied the record for touchdown passes in a game which he now shares with five other Northwest players – Adams also tied the record last season in a win over Eastern New Mexico. The Odessa, Texas, native now has 11 touchdowns on the season as he also passed the 1,000 yard mark for the season.
Simmons set an MIAA record with his 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the Bearcats win over UCO. Simmons' fourth kickoff return of his career broke the MIAA record as he also added two more touchdowns in the win, one receiving and one rushing. Simmons finished with 201 all-purpose yards with 114 coming on kick returns.
The Bearcats return to action Saturday in a top 10 battle with Pittsburg State at the 11th Annual Fall Classic. Kickoff from Arrowhead is slated for 4 p.m.
