Northwest moves up one spot in AFCA poll
MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State football team jumped one spot Monday in the American Football Coaches Association Top 25.
The Bearcats still sit outside the top 10 at No. 12 after a 48-10 win over Fort Hays State.
Northwest is joined by the same trio of MIAA teams in the top 25 as Pittsburg State held steady at No. 1 after a 52-9 rout at Southwest Baptist. Missouri Western moved up one spot to No. 7 as Washburn also moved up one spot to No. 8 after holding off Northeastern State 24-20.
Rounding out the top teams include, Minnesota-Duluth at No. 2, followed by Colorado State-Pueblo at No. 3, Grand Valley State at No. 4 and Winston-Salem State at No. 5.
Northwest hits the road Saturday to face new MIAA member, Nebraska-Kearney, as the Lopers fell to Missouri Western last week, 38-14. Kickoff from Cope Stadium is set for 4 p.m.
