Bearcats host Riverhawks on MIAA TV
MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State football team will be featured as the MIAA Television Network Game of the Week at Bearcat Stadium Sept. 29 against Northeastern State announced by the league office Thursday.
The Bearcats will host one of the league’s new members for Family Weekend on Sept. 29. Kickoff with Northeastern State (Okla.) is set for 2:30 p.m. as the games will once again be carried live on KSMO Channel 62 in the Kansas City area, as well as several cable systems throughout the MIAA geographical footprint.
Northwest holds a 2-0 advantage over Northeastern State in the all-time series; however the two schools have not met since a home-and-away series in 1939 and 1940. The Riverhawks are coming off a 7-5 campaign in 2011 where they received an invite to the Mineral Water Bowl falling to Minnesota State, 28-14.
Last year the Bearcats fell in both television appearances, at the Fall Classic at Arrowhead on a last second field goal by Pittsburg State and at Missouri Western in a flex scheduled game.
The MIAA Network will again feature a “flex schedule” the final two weeks of the season. The games that are of the most interest to MIAA fans, whether it be a game with championship implications, rivalry game, etc., will be chosen to fill the final two slots. Saturday, Nov. 3 and Saturday, Nov. 10 will be the final two football broadcasts of the season, and both are tentatively scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT. Information regarding which games will be featured will be announced at a later date.
The MIAA is in its third year partnered with Kansas City-based Niles Media Group to provide production, distribution and media sales for the broadcast network. The MIAA Network, launched in the summer of 2010, showcased 10 football games as well as 10 basketball games in each of its first two years on television.
